The governor of Nikesake is out on Friendship Street greeting the entering samurai who will be staying with their local clans. She is friendly and animated, with a booming voice of a practiced storyteller.

"Um... hello," said the first samurai to arrive, a young Unicorn on horseback. "We have a lot of people from Toshi no Omoidoso about to show up right behind me. Hope you have room for everyone."

"I'm Moto Baatar," he added.

"Hello! Young samurai." She bows slightly to him. "I'm Ikoma Torii, and we're pleased to be seen as a safe haven in these troubling times! We've been packing people in for days, so what's a few more guests, right? Nothing we can't handle!"

"Glad to hear it, we'll all be glad for a place to rest awhile and tend to our horses," Baatar replied, managing a smile after having ridden most of the night. "Ikoma Torii, eh? Are you the one who built all those arches?"

"Anyway, there was another column that left ahead of us, led by Togashi Tsukimi," he added. "Do you know if they made it here safely?"

She looks Baatar up and down, sizing him up. "The only thing I build, friend, is captivating tales of days gone by."

"As to your other group, the day is young and I started it here. With you!"

"You tell stories?" Baatar asked, sounding weary but interested. "I like stories. I ought to get Horse stabled and rubbed down, but maybe later I'd enjoy a show! Is there an inn or a sake house that you perform at?"

Making her way toward the Dragon embassy, Poemu wished desperately for a chance to clean up and settle down for a bit. She spotted the Lion samurai-ko, and soon heard who she was. The polite thing to do when visiting a city was to greet the governor, so she approached, bowing and waiting.

She stares at Baatar for a moment.

"You ride in like the wind, Unicorn, and nothing can catch you! Not even word of this city and its inhabitants."

She looks at the Dragon arrival. "Greetings!" Torii says with a bow. "Welcome to a reprieve from your hardships."

"Arigato, Ikoma-dono. Your welcome is most appreciated. This one is Agasha Poemu, ambassador to your clan. Consider this my presenting myself to you." She bowed again. "Sumimasen, for not having had time to properly wash and make myself duly presentable."

With a smile on her face covering up her tiredness, Homura approached the governor with a bow. Not interrupting the lovely Poemu or the Moto child.

Now, are you going to be the happy to see me Ikoma kind, or the 'oh no it's her' Ikoma kind? You look like option two to me...

She looks at Poemu directly. "Agasha Poemu. Got it! I'll remember. I look forward to many conversations with you about our Clans, in cleanliness and in dirt!"

She sees a fellow Ikoma and gives a bow. "Ikoma-san! This is Friendship Street and you are family! Welcome to my city."

One of those Ikoma that doesn't know me then. Wonderful!

Homura bowed deeply.

"Seeing family is always the greatest blessing, Ikoma-sama. I am Ikoma Homura, an honor to meet you. Let me know how I can be of assistance in these trying times."

The Asako hero made sure to get cleaned up if only briefly. He then made his way to the embassy and seeing the Ikoma greeting people decided to make an introduction. Not that he needed it, because of course he was a known quantity throughout the Empire.

He waited for her to recognize him, this was a time of diplomacy and politeness.

Seitouna follows suit, dripping as he and his ditty bag are.

But I made it, he thinks. So that's to the good.

He waits his turn, of course, being legitimately polite.

And finding lodging will be a challenge, given how far inland we are, he thinks, and how regarded Tortoise tend to be.

She nods to Homura as she sees other people arriving.

"The samurai come into the city, and if more don't show it'll be a pity! We have a famed Phoenix who always has a plan, and a newcomer of the Tortoise Clan!"

She bows to each in turn.

Seitouna bows more deeply, somehow keeping his ditty bag slung as he does.

He will not respond before the higher-ranking Phoenix--such a man is well known, and it does not do well to offend such a man--but that does not stop him marking the alliteration and rhyme in the response.

He is a writer, after all.

He nodded politely at her praise, “Indeed I do have a plan for everything, and I am heartened by the warm praise, Ikoma-sama. Even the Phoenix have heard the courageous tales of Ikoma Torii, and I dare say I could stand to hear more of the impressive woman and her accomplishments.”

“I am encouraged by her warm words on the Steel Chrysanthemum, perhaps if the vaunted tale spinner has a moment we can speak in private on the matter. I have been looking for an expert on the subject to better grasp the situation at hand. Tis a humble request and I know her time is probably precious but I would be much interested,” he said coolly.

OOC: Nice.

Bishamon give me strength...

Homura managed to remain neutral, although she was concerned about what she'd heard regarding Torii's feelings on the Steel Chrysanthemum.

Seitouna continues to wait his turn.

Lion are Lion, after all. And he is not one.

"Surely you've just heard tales of my tales, Asako-san!" Her words ring out, but there is definitely a hitch in her voice that sounds like she wants to be disagreed with.

"I'm glad you're open to such stories. You know, I'm a storyteller and a historian, and we can't just pretend that great deeds of the past go away because of deeds in the present! I'm not going to judge the quality of a tale before it's over, and I'm glad you're there with me!"

She gives a shrug. "I'm not sure I'm an expert, mind you. I'm just someone who's interested in the whole story and not interested in only reading the end of it."
