After her time on the roof with Togashi Tetsu, Wasako thought it was perhaps best to take to the streets. Despite the good vantage point of sitting on a roof, Rokugani roofs tend to be elaborate enough that they do a good job of shielding things from sight when watched from above. With the enemy gone, the locals and guests had more breathing room. However, what became of the Steel Chrysanthemum and his forces was a lingering question. Just because they were safe now, didn't mean the Emerald Empire was free of danger.

She paused on her patrol of Friendship Street to peer at the Dragon embassy from the outside, that had its storm shutters installed and perhaps a few bits of furniture that was haphazardly thrown together to block the side entrances. It was just a few days ago they thought the siege would find its way to their literal doorsteps.

Having finished her lunch and meeting, Mei sits lazily atop Ti-Lu and rides along the streets, taking in the sights and sounds, gathering information as she does but presenting a picture to the world of a lazy rider. When Mei spots Wasako, she follows her for a bit before riding up next to her.

"Good afternoon, Mirumoto-san. How is your afternoon?"

Wasako perked up at the sound of hooves not too far from her and made her wonder if there was some sort of military activity approaching. She turned to see that it was only a lone horse at first before taking notice of the Imperial rider.

"Oh, good afternoon, Miya-san. I am well and the afternoon is proven eventless so far, which is a good thing after the last few days...how is your afternoon?" she said as she dipped into a bow to greet her.

Mei gives a seated bow.

"Miya Mei. And my afternoon is going well, it seems the enemy has decided there are better targets than here. They seem to be moving on. Though it does make me wonder what comes next"

"This one is Mirumoto Wasako of the Northern Wall Mountains," she said with a nod, wondering if she should have introduced herself earlier. "Hai...reports have mentioned that the enemy has moved on. I don't think we were ever the intended target, merely that we were in the way. It probably had enough of us and decided to take another way instead of toward the Imperial capital..."

She gave the woman a look over again, noticing that she was both a Miya and an Imperial. "...You don't suppose the Imperial legions will intercept the army in time, do you?"

"When I left the Imperial City a week ago upon hearing the news, they were still mustering. It takes some time for the Legions to be stood up, though I believe the defiance that Nikesake showed this false claimant to the throne has bee enough to help give them the time they needed to assemble."

Mei looks to the south as Ti-Lu walks slowly.

"Likely they will meet on open fields, though the Palace of the Emerald Champion also serves as a stronghold between here and the Forbidden City,"

Wasako nodded soundly at that as she walked along Mei to keep pace, "That does sound reassuring, at least...I'm probably not following the word of what's happening abroad as closely but it almost seemed rather nebulous of aid was coming at all. And some have mentioned that there was no word from the Emerald Champion too. A lot has happened and I was wondering if anything was happening in reaction. Thank you for the news, Miya-san."

"You are welcome, Mirumoto-san. I ask that if it not be a bother, you return the favor. I only arrived yesterday, so there is much I must learn of the situation. Any insights you have would be most appreciated."

"Just yesterday?" she said with a bit of surprised and blinked, wondering if she was the best person to inform the Miya. She didn't exactly have her ear on the ground when it came to courtly matters.

"I suppose you might know about the Steel Chrysanthemum's arrival in the city, which sparked the beginning of the siege. Unfortunately, on the first day, we had lost some of the Empire's greater heroes, the honoured Asako Kashiwagi, the honoured Kayou and the honoured Matsu Mogami. Matsu Tani, a Lion kuge was captured as well and strung up to a banner," she said gravely and then took a base. "It had been a great blow to the morale and a day of sadness for the Empire."

"I had been part of the operation to release her from her cruel prison. Togashi Tsukimi, Soshi Tameaki, Bayushi Setsuna, and myself. Kitsu Izumi-dono had bravely given us her aid as well. Unfortunately, I was only able to return with Kitsu-dono," she said with a shake of her head.

"I saw the injured Daimyo yesterday. I am glad to now know the story as to how she came to be injured. I am sad to hear the other news however, that is most unfortunate.'

Mei looks off in the distance

"It does seem like the army is going to be moving on now, at least."

While the two of them were talking, another figure happened to be walking from further down the street, her scroll satchel at her side and a pensive look on her face as she walked. She kept looking towards the gates to the south from time to time, unsure if she trusted the warnings that those who were outside the city would be possibly moving out soon. Catching sight of the Mirumoto and the Miya, she bowed low to them after coming to halt.

"-Samas, I am not interrupting anything," she murmered quietly after remembering that she'd need to reintroduce herself to the Miya. That had been the agreement, had it not?

Wasako nodded soundly at the. However, she might have talked enough about that during her day. Touki offered a glimmer of hope that they perhaps were not killed, there weren't any obvious signs shown yet. And of course, she should be moving on to better herself in the future and not just for them.

She looked at Mari curiously at first, wondering what brought the ronin to the street of embassies. Perhaps she found an employee on the street? She bowed in greeting as she approached Mari. "Good afternoon, Mari-san...you're not interrupting me, at least. I was just walking here."

Mei gives a nod from her horse.

"Hello, Mari-san. Miya Mei."

She introduces herself curtly and looks back to Wasako.

"You know the wolf, Mirumoto-san?"

Oddly enough? She'd had business with one of the embassies. True, the Crane was further down the road, but she wanted to see if that bird spirit she'd summoned had returned yet, on the off chance that the spell had actually worked and produced something worth the effort.

Rising from the bow, she nodded, but did not speak. The Miya had asked the Mirumoto. "Miya-sama," was all she said, keeping her tone quiet for the moment. The woman was ... hard to gauge.

Wasako did a quick turn to look at the Miya before looking back to Mari, perhaps just realizing that she should have given introductions but hose had been given out by now.

"Hai, we've managed to run into each other a few times around the city. Mari-san, here, is known as a healer and storyteller," she nodded to Mei at first before nodding to Mari, in case she wanted to elaborate on herself.

"Ah, a ronin healer is always a good ally to have, especially if you find yourself engaging in martial activities like yesterday often."

"I've found that my services are called on rather frequently yes. One way or another, the prayers of the water kami are of value at times like this." Though she ended up making food as much as she did healing people. Idly, she wondered how many people ever learned that spell to Inari...

"Mirumoto-sama and I have spoken a few times, though we haven't had the chance to share the field of battle yet."

"With the usurpers army departing, I hope you never will either. The Legions should make short work of them soon."

"I suppose we could only hope we won't see battle anytime soon," She gave a shake of her head, as battle was typically very bloody and dirty business. Something she had found out a few days ago and especially the casualties involved. "There are perhaps other battles here to be found. Despite the enemy forces being gone, I'm sure normalcy is still a long way away. We still have the rebuilding process here and Nikesake is still hosting the stay of the refugees who have previously lost their homes."

"Very true, there is much that can be done here. First of all, I would think priority being to unify under one banner. The court yesterday was a mess, and too many are swaying from the Hantei and the Empress. I do not think they are healthy viewpoints to be allowed spoken."
