It was still raining. So outrageous and unfair. He'd stayed in for quite some time today just to make sure his umbrella had dried properly from it's last soaking, but now he made his way to his arranged appointment.

He appeared to be quite a bit taller than usual . . .

Open, but expecting.

Finally things had calmed enough for Tetsuko to receive the guest she had intended to receive yesterday. With a smile she welcomed him in. "Good evening Asako-San, thank you so much for coming. Please, come inside of of this rain." She wore white, blue Crane mons prominent.

His increase in height was soon answered by the wooden geta he'd worn to avoid the mud all over the streets. Thus the bow was a little unsteady but still enough for decorum.

He entered with a smile, hoping she'd understand that he couldn't 'reply' while carrying the supplies they'd need for task at hand.

"Asako-san is most ingenious." She escorted him through into the art room. It was a Crane Embassy, of course it had an art room.

"I took the liberty of preparing some tea in advance, I hope you do not mind?" There was a low table set for tea, and several other tables with additional art supplies.

After divesting himself of muddy geta and umbrella, he collected the paper he'd brought and followed her in. Then he had time to write a greeting out at last.

Quote:
Apologies Daidoji-sama, so much to carry and not enough hands.

He presented it with a smile.

She offered a small bow in thanks. "Truly there is no need to apologise Asako-sama. It is I who one should be offering an apology for failing to meet with you yesterday as planned."

Gesturing to the pots she added. "Perhaps I can apologise with tea? I have brought many flavours with me. This one is well balanced but if you have a preference I can accommodate."

Quote:
Anything that is not as bitter as the Lion standard please. I am becoming tired of masking it with mint.

The message was written out surprisingly quickly, as if by someone who was becoming frustrated with Lion 'it'll do' tea policy.

Tetsuko smiled and nodded, seemingly pleased by the response. She moved over to the table and poured two cups. "I would not call the Lion standard 'tea'. This is a gentle jasmine, I hope it meets with your approval."

Mint was not a bad idea, but the stuff the Lion served was so strong it was better to gulp and hope it did not touch one's tastebuds.

A servant rushes back and forth, not finding anyone else at the permitted floor for servants of her level at the embassy. Noticing the art room had a Crane samurai, the servant politely drops to the floor like her life depended on it and begs, silently for a very short moment of their time.

When noticed, the servant announces that an Imperial Miharu was waiting at the front door, and she didn't know how to proceed in such a case. Then she begs for forgiveness once more.

He took the cup, sniffed the aroma before finally tasting it. The happy beaming smile said more than what he could write in response. Yet a response was still written.

Quote:
Oh that is quite lovely, Daidoji-sama.

He then turned his attention to the paper he had brought and the designs he had tucked away in his scroll satchel, while Tetsuko dealt with the new visitor.

"I am so pleased it meets with your approval." She smiled and was about to pull out some paper when the servant arrived.

"Oh, I see. Forgive me Asako-sama, it seems I am needed. I will return soon." Rising she bowed to the Phoenix and allowed the servant to lead the way to the entrance.

There really was a miharu at the door. Tetsuko recognized her from the gathering around the Miya that morning. She bowed deeply. "Good evening Seppun-sama, welcome to the Crane Embassy. Please come in. I will inform Doji-sama of your arrival." She gestured to the warm and inviting interior.

Horonigai bows and follows the full ceremonial of an invited guest being kind and sweet, "Konbanwa. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu. Domou arigatou gozaimashita!"

She opens a smile to Testuko while entering the building, and mentions, "I hope Inari-no-kami has blessed this esteemed Embassy today."

It is worth noting that a servant with a pony loaded of stuff waited stood outside in an inconspicuous area.

The Seppun waits as suggested and, if she sees the Asako, provides him a bows from afar.

Recognising the voice, Ayanojo returned the bow . . . from afar, and continued sorting through the paper he had and matching it to the design he had drawn the day before.

"It has, thank you Seppun-sama. Perhaps you would care for tea while I look for Doji-sama? I have a jasmine prepared." She gestured towards the art room and, assuming the Seppun was fine with waiting, went off in search of Suiminko.

Unfortunately, the servant returns rather quickly, explaining that Suiminko is not in her room.

Tetsuko frowned but the Advisor must have important Clan business elsewhere. She returned to the waiting Seppun.

"Ah, it appears that Doji-sama is elsewhere this evening Seppun-sama. Perhaps I can be of assistance?"

Horonigai is fine with waiting. She waited patiently until Testuko could return. Then she adds. "Eto. I believe Daidoji-san can. I, well, would like to be polite in presenting a gift for Doji Suiminko-sama, but it can wait until she's free of her duties."

The Miharu smiles, and clearly is not moving from the Embassy until that is done. "Ne. Daidoji-sama mentioned tea. This humble guardian would be pleased."

Tetsuko bowed and led the Seppun into the art room. "Seppun-sama, please allow me to introduce Asako Ayanojo. Asako-sama, it is an honour to introduce Seppun Horonigai-sama."

She busied herself with organising a third cup of tea.

"Asako-sama and I were about to enjoy an evening of origami and kite-making."

"Ara. We've met yesterday, Daidoji-san. Asako-san has been to kind with me and used his friendship with the water drops to heal me from a special wound."

She bows deeply to Ayanojo, "I hope Asako-san has been blessed by Inari-no-kami."

With that, Horonigai wants to be seated as indicated. To Ayanojo, she might look rather different from the previous day: gloomier and with a lower tone of voice. The white of her clothes would indicate mourning, in any case.

To illustrate the kite making, Ayanojo had a stack of paper, designs and a neat pile of thin bamboo canes laid out ready.

He smiled at Horonigai, not picking up on her altered mood immediately, but the white clothing was worrying.

Quote:
Good evening, Seppun-sama.

He wrote in greetings.
