Before the Lion seized control of Nikesake, the Crane Embassy served as the the city's court, in addition to being a place that provided support to visiting Crane samurai. Now, it primarily serves as a "secondary court," providing a place for courtiers to gather and discuss topics out of earshot of the Lion, who are quite unwelcome within its walls.

In the middle of the night, a group of four Ikoma guards show up outside of the Crane embassy. They refuse to allow passage in or out of the embassy for anyone wearing Crane colors. Around mid-day and again in the evening, the guards change over but maintain the same message. By the end of the night, they depart.
