With the happenings outside the castle, Ryuji decided to remain in his room where it was safest. A small dinner was prepared; sushi, sashimi, rice, fruit, some wine. Ryuji also decided to read the tales of Bayushi Sasuke.

Her steps can be heard from the corridor, as armor makes its particular noise. The Miharu gently raps at Ryuji's shoji door, announcing herself, politely. "Seppun Horonigai-desu. Shitsurei shimasu."

"Please enter." Ryuji said in an almost relieved tone. He began to prepare tea. Once Hornogai entered,

"Any news from the outside, Seppun-sama?!"

She slides the door open, and bows to Ryuji, "I haven't received a full report yet, Otomo-san. Good evening."

Horonigai removes the sheathed katana from her obi and waits until directed to seat. "What I could observe is that we managed to defend from the first offensive, and a special force sent out has not returned."

The Seppun looks to the ground. "The siege will remain."

Although not hungry due to all the worries in her mind with no news of the return of the Gang Squad, Horonigai reminds herself she should at least bite something to keep up with the rest of the evening.

She nods and then kneels in seiza, blade at her left. "Thank you for sharing the meal with me, Otomo-san."

The Seppun gets a warm towel to clean her hands, and she takes some extra time in it. Her eyes keeps focusing on an inexistent blood stain that didn't wash off in her mind.

"It is the least I can do in returning the hospitality you shown me...plus, I very much like your company now...I have some green tea steeping but if you like I have plum wine."

"I'll have whatever Otomo-san would like." She says while folding the previously warm piece if cloth and putting it back into a tray.

"Now that we'll be in a siege, I wonder if Otomo-san doesn't want to retreat from the city."

Ryuji began to pour wine, serving her first.

"I should. I have no yojimbo and I have no martial skill. What use would I be in a battle?"

He then prepared a bowl of rice and salmon sashimi for them.

Horonigai takes the cup in hand and waits until he is ready to partake. "You are under the protection of the Lion. If Otomo-san wishes, I can ask on the Crane Embassy to have you as guest. In this fashion I could act as yojimbo."

Ryuji took his chopsticks.

"Itadakemasu." he said and began with his rice.

"Itadakimasu!" She puts the cup back on the table and replies with hands held together in prayer.

Then, she fetches rice bowl to take a small lump into her plate. With the available chopsticks, Horonigai carefully pincers an even smaller lump and takes it to her mouth. Right hand goes on top, ineffectively covering her lips while eating.

"I'll talk with them tomorrow to see that done. Meanwhile, please, get the Lion to follow you if you leave the castle."

"Domo. I truly appreciate you Seppun-sama." Ryuji said and ate a few bites of rice. There was silence in the room, only sound really was the both of them eating and drinking. Ryuji let the silence linger till he put his cup down.

"Seppun-sama, if I may, without being intrusive, have you been betrothed?"

She had taken another lump of the rice, but the chopsticks trajectory stops a breath away from her mouth as she freezes with the question. A chill runs up her spine, but On remains partly intact.

After a moment, she lowers the chopsticks, without taking the bite. She wasn't that hungry, after all. She inhales, tries to smile and nods. "Un! I have."

"Most splendid! Truly a redoubtable and remarkable woman as yourself would make for a most honorable match. I salute your betrothal." Ryuji raised his cup of wine to her.

Horonigai bites her lips, and raises her hand up in a halt, mentioning he took her words differently of what she meant.

"Chigau!"

With an apologetic nod that is kept down, she explains, "Shitsurei shimashita. Otomo-san. I have been betrothed. I still need to deliver a letter to the Imperial Matchmaker. Although, I am quite certain the current happenings won't favor the marriage anymore."

Ryuji lowered his cup and set it aside. His eyes narrowed slightly and his tone became more serious.

Horonigai adjusts her hair behind the ear, that was already tucked in quite nicely, then folds her hands on her lap.

"The current war against the spirits."

"Ah...well, that situation ruins many things. I was afraid it was due to some other entanglement."

A sip of wine.

"I would be happy to assist in any matter that would...pose a problem to you." Ryuji's Otomo ways were very much telling to her as he went back to eating.

"Honto...ni?" She asks incredulous, but giving the benefit of the doubt for such an offer. "I do not deserve Otomo-san's assistance in such a fragile matter."

Horonigai doesn't press the matter further, knowing Ryuji might just have been acting polite. She smiles faintly and resumes eating.
