The Saravya approached cautiously this time. She'd wanted to meditate before, but she hadn't expected to be buried in people. Weren't temples supposed to be places of contemplation?

She let out a small breath when it seemed the area was much more quiet now and entered the gate. She did want to learn more about the humans' religions, but not in that environment.

Kayou was carrying a bucket of fresh water to one of the guest areas. "Greetings . . . Naga-san. Are you in need of aid?" she asks pausing.

"Not exactly. I was hoping to meditate and learn when I came by here earlier, but there were... a lot of people," she replied. She noted the bucket. "Don't let me stop you from your duties."

"This one can escort you to a quiet place on her way, Naga-san," says Kayou.

"This one is Kayou."

"Thank you. Pleased to meet you, The Kayou," she replied with a nod. "You don't belong to a bloodline?"

Kayou pauses as she thinks of how to answer that. "This one is a member of an Order, it is a bloodline we choose to follow an ideal as opposed to one we were born into. My Order is that of Harmonious Work, that seeks to aid farming and production of the people."

"Ah... Am I right to assume one leaves behind one's original bloodline for this Order?" She asked as she followed along. "That seems like important work."

"Hai, Naga-san," says Kayou. "Some join when they are young, such as this one, others join at the end of their life having finished the service to their . . . bloodline."

"Will you need anything besides a quiet place? Tea? Water? This one is afraid that we have little food to spare after the events of today."

She shook her head. "I don't want to drain on resources that could be used for people who need them," she replied. "If you have time soon, I wouldn't mind bending your ear, though. I would like to learn more about your order and Rokugani religion in general."

"This one would be honored, Naga-san," she says opening the curtain on a small alcove. Their are mats on the floor and faded dragons painted upon the wall.

"This one will return in an hour o rso when her tasks are done."

"That will give me plenty of time. Thank you," she replied as she coiled into an odd sort of sitting position and bowed to the monk.

Then she settled back and closed her eyes, focusing inward, her mind toward the Akasha.

Kayou returns the bow and leaves.

-----

And returns an hour, more or less, later.

When Kayou returned, she opened her eyes and let out a long breath. "That's much better... Your help is greatly appreciated, The Kayou." She rose a little on her tail to bow properly... as much as a snake body could.

Kayou watches, trying not to be obvious or impolite about her observation.

"This one is glad to help, Naga-sama," she says returning the bow. "What would you like to ask?"

"Oh, I didn't tell you my name. I'm sorry. I am The Saravya." She shook her head. "It feels odd to say -sama to me. Just my name is fine. Is there something you want to ask, as well? You seem to be looking intently."

"General questions, I suppose. What sort of philosophy your order follows, the origins of such things."

"Thank you, The Saravya," nods Kayou. "This one was just admiring the motions of your form, the snake is graceful and how its nature merges with what is to this one, more familiar is fascinating."

"This one and her Order, follow the Tao, the way as explained by the Little Teacher. It is a way of living, a way of being, that places one in harmony with the world."

The snake woman looked pleased at the comment about her form, lifting herself a little more from the coil to let her observe a little better. "You're welcome to observe as much as you like. Most humans are more uncomfortable with this than when I use legs."

"That Tao, hm... I think I've heard it mentioned before. Harmony is a goal of the Naga."

"There is nothing in the natural world that makes this one uncomfortable, in most things, she finds beauty."

"This one does not know much of the Naga's spiritual nature," says Kayou. "She has learned some of your history, which is fascinating, but not as much about how you view the world. Though she understand that you also revere the Sun, as the Bright Eye, while we know her as Lady Sun."

"This one would like to learn from you as well, the Saravya."

"The Bright Eye... Yes, even those farther west revere her. A being of great holiness and bounty and great wrath, as well," she replied, nodding solemnly. "The Naga share a collective existence, all of our souls bound together as one. It informs much of how we see the world. Those of us who pass on join the Akasha."

"Once you join the Akasha, do you ever return?" she asks.
