That brought another nod, and a faint smile, followed by a small bow. "Arigato, Kioka-sensei. Being there left me shaken, and I sought answers. Perhaps there never were answers, but knowing I make my own path now... I think I am a bit more at peace."

"That is good to hear. This one has learned that often events seem beyond the power of mortals, but it is mortals who ultimately have the say. These are trying times, and it will get worse, but make no mistake it can be corrected by mortal hands alone."

After a moment though, Poemu spoke up with another question. "I do not doubt that at all. I am curious what my own role in such might be however. Shinsei had mortals save themselves, with his guidance, but all of the Thunders were either warriors or priests of the kami. My duty is in the courts Kioka-sensei. How... how would I be able to save anyone?"

"Did you not just answer your own question?"

After waiting for a moment, she continues. "Shinsei offered guidance. Is not your clan wise and contemplative? Could you not offer that same guidance?"

She points toward the castle. "There are those now speaking out in the hopes in inspiring more to action. Does not the one who pushed the rock at the top of the hill have some responsibility for what it hits at the bottom?"

She flushed softly at that. "A-ah, it seems I did. Perhaps there is something to be said for not knowing what one already knows. Still, that is what the Tao and meditation are for, hai? You have helped me much sensei. That I could say I had done the same for you."

"When you leave this place, this one imagines you could say anything you wished." She smiles at the jest. "But if you choose what you say going forward to that which is of the Way, you will have done a good plenty for this one." Her smile lingers in an affectionate way.

"I am not certain I understand the Way any better now than I did before, but I do at least remember that understanding start with a single step. Perhaps I will have to think and meditate on all that's been said and learned today..." She trailed off, then nodded, giving a small bow.

"Is there anything more direct this one can do for you Kioka-sensei? Perhaps something needs restoration, or an addition could be helpful?"

The monk shakes her head. "May you find the Tao," she bows and begins to wander off.

Poemu seemed a little disappointed there wasn't anything else she could do, but that was only momentary as she was lost in thought and made her own-
