The servants all exchange nervous looks before a young woman steps forward and bows deeply. "This one is called Sakura, Lion-sama. We are retainers for the Crane Champion, Doji Etsuo. We are merely waiting for our lord to arrive."

The magistrate clicks his tongue
"If you have anything else you would add, say it now. Who he stood with, the enemy, if he had any message he wished pass on? As it stands you may be waiting for some time."
He goes to turn but then pauses. These peasants had made a hard journey and were not expected to endure as much as a samurai
"I will have some food and drinks sent your way."

"Thank you, Lion-sama." She bows again. "There were others, but I do not know their names. Most of the Crane delegation - those that did not escort the first wave of survivors to safety - remained behind with the Champion. I believe there were some Crab there as well."

Many of the refugees are simply repeating rumors they overhead while traveling, but only a few profess to having seen the Crane Champion with their own eyes. They claim that Doji Etsuo remained behind with some Crab samurai to buy time for the refugees to escape, but none of them actually saw any fighting, due to fleeing.

"What i have learnt is that he may have arranged a small force from Crab samurai. There's a chance then they are there in the field. I believe it is credible enough to be brought to the Governor's attention so that he could decide on further action, if any." She looked up the hill toward the Shisen no Shiro.
