After spending the early part of the afternoon inspecting the garden, Hachi comes to the Onsen to warm his tired, cold bones. He isn't in the best of shape anymore, and the water here is needed, to help rest and rejuvenate him.

After scraping himself clean, he dunks into the water.

The tranquility of the bathhouse is shattered by a voice that, while feminine is clearly unladylike.

"Bishamon's sweaty ballsack, what did the Lion think that this what what onsen smell like in Ryoko Owari?" says Yogo Aya, slightly revulsed by the mixture of perfume and sulfur.

"They lack the resources to tend to the waters properly." Miwako explained as she entered. "But, they've managed it in there own way."

Aya snorted at that as she prepared to enter the bath.

"A shugenja in tune with the air kami could fix this in like five minutes. I know that people think that the Lion clan store extra muscles in their heads, but they DO have a shugenja tradition. They couldn't spare one crummy priest for the sudden hosting of the Imperial court?" she says dismissively.

Not that the Lion had exactly planned to host the Imperial Winter Court here, but clearly Aya thought they should have prepared for that.

She offered a seated bow.

"Yogo Aya, by the by."

Hachi frowned, then reached into his memory. Reaching to his bag, he dug out one spell, and reminded himself of it's contents.

He aligned himself with the water, and Attempted to Sense all he could around him. Finished, he returned the scroll to it's case. Next, though he knew he was not as adept as a Master, he still would try to lower the level of the smells, so he Communed with the Water kami to take the bad smells in the water vapors around them away.

"That should help a little. I hope."

"Isawa Miwako." she introduced herself as she entered the water. "Their concerns are understandably elsewhere. But, I think we can manage."

Aya watched the nameless and naked mage as he communed with the kami.

"Huh, interesting choice communing with the water kami instead. I assume that means you have a stronger bond with them than with the air kami. Which I totally get, they're a bunch of flightly airheads anyways. A healer perhaps....but you don't look like a naked Lion." she reasons, having no name or mon to assign to the man.

"Ah, no, Hachi, of the Isawa. And I have found my bond to the water to be stronger here, though my primary one is to the Earth."

"Water, however, is my strength." the other Phoenix added.

"Hmm, interesting." Aya allows, though doesn't delve into her own strengths.

"I must admit, I hadn't expected to run into a pair of Phoenix shugenja here. What brings the two of you to Toshi no Omoidoso?"

"I have been on pilgrimmage these past couple years. The Temple here is quite an important one."

"Indeed." Miwako nodded in agreement. "I came seeking guidance."

"Guidance... yes, that would have been good, at slightly past times."

"Ah, so just bad luck that you happened to be here now then." Aya said warming to the bath.

"Though possibly good luck to those in need of a priest's aid in these times."

Even in the warming waters, he is not stopped from his coughing, though he does cover his mouth. *cough, cough*

"Guidance, yes. Though, I fear that many bushi will be needed more, at least at first."

"I have often found that fate takes me in unexpected directions." she shrugged. "I am thankful, however, that I could be present to assist the wounded. And, to help in whatever way I can with what might come."

Fortunes help me, I'm stuck in a bath with two boring Phoenix scholars! Aya offered as her own private prayer.

"So, Hachi-san, do you find that it's easier to commune with the kami while naked? You know, freed from the concerns of the material world?" she asks.

That seemed like a winning topic to Aya.

"Definitely, with water." Miwako answered with a casual shrug.

Hachi blinks.

blinks.

blinks.

"I have never considered it before. Though, I should work on memorizing more of my prayers if I am to do so."

Aya nods, a small smile playing on her lips.

"True, true, paper doesn't react too well to water....well, at least not in these amounts. The water kami of the ink aren't too bad...unless they're allowed to overrun the page."

She leans back a bit.

"Why water though, Miwako-san? The body is composed of all five elements after all, and I've certainly known some real blockheads who were so earthy you'd think they'd bleed soil. Shouldn't the removal of clothes put a shugenja closer to all the spirits of nature?"
