One might have noticed that, at this time of year, the Lion samurai seemed to be troubled and deep in thought, leaving them less alert than one would otherwise expect.

Touki was no exception to this. He no longer wore his armor, not being on duty, but he still felt as though another pair of Lion boots in the street could be helpful. But he found he couldn't focus, instead walking aimlessly around, shoulders hunched together, ignoring beggars and merchants alike.

He turned down a well-lit but surprisingly empty street, his feet padding in the snow.

There he was. That man who had taken everything from Setsuna. Well, that was their story at least. And what a sorry sort he was right then. Certainly not the proud Lion that he should be.

And Setsuna wanted to play the coy Scorpion that they often were. Instead, the fury came back, taking away the games that they so enjoyed playing.

"Touki-sama!" Setsuna shouted down the path. They drew their blade and assumed the fabled Pincer-Style of their school. "On this fateful evening, we meet at last! I have prepared for this day! Have you?!"

Touki blinked, frowning, and staring at his opponent. His apparent opponent. "... what?" He said, his voice flat.

Still, a drawn sword was a drawn sword, even if it came from an apparent madwoman... man... person, yelling at him. Touki shifted, approaching a ready stance. "You have the advantage of me, Bayushi-sama. But I warn you that if you come within sword's reach, you may lose more than that advantage."

"And what advantage would that be, hm?" Setsuna stepped forward, though not quite in combat yet. "My abilities have doubled since we last met, Touki-sama."

"What?" Confusion was breaking Touki's usual On, affecting both his sharp features, and his monotone voice. "Bayushi-sama, have you perhaps mistaken me for someone else? If I have any enemies among the Scorpion it is news to me. In fact, I don't believe you and I have met at all."

Is there another Touki right behind me or something? He almost checked, but Touki wasn't about to take his eyes off such a weird opponent.

"What?" Setsuna echoed. They then started to chuckle deeply, trying to maintain that semblance of mysterious Scorpion. "It must be the new mask! But... no, you know not of anyone among..."

The Bayushi's stance faltered for a moment. "Allow me to refresh your memory, then," they spurted out, "You humiliated me when we fought with wood! Now we draw steel!"

Touki looked at her for a long time.

"Are you possibly looking for an Akodo Toki?" He offered. "It is an easy mistake to make. Perhaps that is who you are looking for."

And the cat came back, the very next day.

Watching.

"And when was this supposed to have happened?" Touki asked, still frowning. "And where?" He was also curious about how and why, but those didn't seem like very productive questions.

The cat meows once and pads away.

Setsuna paid no heed to such a creature as a cat. There was only one living being on their mind. "If you like questions so much, how about this: How does the fifth page of Leadership start?"

For whatever reason, Setsuna knew that... probably to ask that question to Touki one day to humiliate him.

Round down to TN 30! Or don't roll, whatever Touki would do.

"What?" Touki asked, yet again. "Who even counts page numbers in Leadership? Or any book?"

He glanced over. "Is that your cat? What's even happening?" This last was said with some amount of exasperation. A lot.

"I do, the greatest... no I am not the greatest scholar but I am good at it!" Bayushi Setsuna switched stances to a traditional kenjutsu stance, once likely seen in every school of the Empire.

"This is a matter of honor! Surely you understand that."

"I suppose..." Touki said, frowning.

He crossed his arms. "But no. No more half-answers, or weird questions about page numbers. Give me the full story of what happened, as you remember it. If you would, Bayushi-sama." He was still polite, after all.

"Curse you... Our two clans shared in training. In front of both of our contingents, you faced me, you defeated me." Setsuna shook their head. "But that is the past! Now is my time of victory."

Touki frowned. "I remember training with Scorpion. I've done that a few times, in fact. Do you think you could be more specific?"

He shrugged. "I apologize. This sounds like a very memorable day for you. But for me, it was just another day."

"Sounds like you aren't even worthy of remembering, Scorpion."

A woman is standing there watching and listening to you two. She looks like she might come from Mantis lands, but it's hard to be sure.

"Sounds like there's only one way to settle this."

Touki turned to look at the new woman.

"What?" He said again. It was something he seemed to be saying an awful lot. "Who are you, and where did you come from?"

"What?" The woman is clearly imitating your what a moment before. "Where did I come from? You two are standing in the streets yapping like ill-behaved puppies and you ask where I come from? Are you a simpleton?"

She turns to Setsuna. "This is the samurai who defeated you? Wow. You must be really pathetic."
