Arriving, the Bayushi straightened out his kimono and let his eyes adjust to the coming darkness on the other side of the door.

"Bayushi Norikami, here to see Lady Shosuro", he informed the guard.

The guard looks Norikami up and down, then steps into the room to speak with its occupant. He steps out a moment later and remains at the door for a minute, just staring at the other Scorpion.

Then, after some imperceptible signal, he steps aside and opens the door. "The Shosuro daimyo will see you, Bayushi-san."

Aya rolled her eyes.

"And Yogo Aya." she said. She was used to Norikun leaving her out when making introductions like he was embarrassed to be seen with him.

She'd wait for the signal from the guard as to whether she'd be admitted or not. She might have a few screws loose, but not so many that she'd tried rushing a daimyo's guards.

The guard eyes the Yogo suspiciously.

"Pre-curse or post?" he asks, not caring if the question was offensive.

That gets a bitter laugh out of the Yogo.

"Well, let's see. my parents, my grandparents, my extended family, and my fiancee are all dead. But you could argue that's not really my fault. If you'd like me to declare my undying love for you, handsome, we could see what happens." she suggests.

It's not like they handed out certificates of "Curse Resolved!", but if the guard didn't want a Yogo near his charge, Aya'd just stay outside with the guards.

The guard snorts in amusement. "I do have that effect on women."

He motions them inside. "Five feet of distance at all times, pumpkin. Unless you enjoy being tackled to the ground, in which case, we should talk later."

"As you like guard-kun, as you like." she says. "Five feet it shall be."

Then she follows into the chambers.

Uruwashii's room was, surprisingly, decorated in Crane colors, making her an ink-spot of darkness at its center. From the closed screen to the right, she seems to have been preparing to sleep, but the banter at the doorway had at least bought her enough time to make herself presentable. She wore only a single layer of kimono, and gloves that stretched well up beneath its sleeves.

"Good evening," she says, greeting them with a smile. "My apologies for the guard, Yogo-san. I will ensure that he is properly chastised for his actions."

Aya bows deeply. While she enjoyed ruffling a lot of feathers, these ones were ones you did not want to ruffle.

"I've had far worse said to me Shosuro-dono, but your personal attention to even such a personally trivial matter is praiseworthy." she offered.

This was said without the usual added snark or sarcasm. This woman was one of the most four dangerous people in the Empire, and Aya knew better than to screw around with her.

Norikami wasn't phased by Aya behaving, though he had to admit he was slightly disappointed, he'd been looking forward to seeing how their routine would be recieved by one of their clan daimyo.

"Pardon our intrusion, Lady Shosuro", he said as he bowed low and sat 5ft away and not a millimeter further. He'd left his blades at the entrance.

"I hope our late call isn't unwelcome, we have some things we'd like to discuss regarding our duty and the situation at hand."

"Think nothing of it, Baysuhi-san. One of the interesting aspects of being daimyo of the Shosuro is the sheer number of people that appear in your bedroom in the middle of the night to deliver messages and updates. If anything, I appreciate being given time to make myself presentable."

She looks between the two of them. "So yes, your duty. Would I be incorrect in believing that the two of you are essentially traveling monster hunters? Or are there other aspects to your duty that have escaped my attention?"

"You've got the right if it, my lady", he answered for them both. "And that being the case there's some things we'll need to investigate. Though all of us being in another clan's territory and there supposedly being an army marching this way, we felt it'd be proper to come to you for some support."

He bowed his head. "Deepest apologies for the inconvenience, but there's something dangerous, possible two somethings, or more in this area and the Lion got a big plate of refugees to swallow."

Aya nodded, happy to let Norikun make with the words. Those night classes on how to talk good must've really been working. Still, it was good she was there if the Shosuro had questions involving her expertise.

"Dangerous beyond the spirit army, I assume." There's a soft sigh from the daimyo. "When it rains, it pours, neh?"

She folds her fingers together and pushes her hands away from her, stretching out her arms. "What do you require?"

"Papers, some kind of writ so we aren't bothered by the Lion when we move outside the gates. Supplies could be nice. I've prepared for the cold, but Yogo-san has needs for her specialty. A guide who knows the terrain and local legends would be best, but we might find one on our own if whatever permission we get can be applied to a group."

He thought a moment.

"Aside that, my lady, have you heard rumors of the Crane clan champion still being beyond the walls?"

"You will have your papers by the end of the night. Do not let then out of your sight, and burn them when the mission is finished. Obtain whatever equipment you need and have the payment requests sent to me."

Uruwashii rattles the instructions off like it was old habit.

"As for the guide, I would recommend finding a Lion samurai. They will have a better grasp of the terrain, and it will prevent anyone from suspecting us of working against them beyond their sight."

"Yes, Lady Shosuro", he bowed again. He seemed slightly hesitant to bring up something else, or maybe he was waiting to see if she had anything on the matter of the Crane. Scary as a Shosuro daimyo could be, he was relatively sure they couldn't read minds, though he didn't want to overstep into politics, and on the matter of spies in the city well...counterintelligence wasn't his speciality either.

He waited a moment, either Aya would add something or Uruwashii would dismiss them or ask why he was being hesitant and wasting her time.

Aya bowed likewise. She didn't have anything else to add, though it was kind of scary to see the kind of resources a Shosuro daimyo could bring to bear with the snap of her fingers. You knew that they could, but she was far more used to petty bureaucrats with their endless pointless stalling.

She likewise waited to see if the Crane daimyo deserved comment, or if it was time to go.

"As for the Crane Champion, I am aware of the rumors." She left it at that. "See that this matter is dealt with quickly and quietly. We do not need any distractions."

That sounds like a dismissal to Aya!

She bowed deeply.
