Sara scratched at the door. From the servants she gathered, this was the room of Bayushi Setsuna, and Sara was in an emergency, and dire need of help.

"Bayushi-san?"

The Bayushi opened the door slightly, enough to only see part of the mask. "Is there something I can assist you with?"

"Ah, Bayushi-san, I hope so. I am Shosuro Sara, from Morikage no Toshi." she hoped that explained everything. "In the commotion, I could not bring all of my pack, obviously. I hope to request a comb from you, if I may?"

"Is it proper to share a comb?" Setsuna asked, genuinely. They then clicked their tongue. "Why do you believe I have one myself?"

"Well, I am a bit lacking in options at the moment, and Ihave an important meeting later. if anyone asks, we can lie." She shrugged. "And I did not know, I just hoped. One can only hope in these dark times."

"Lie about comb sharing? How dastardly," Setsuna stated, deadpan. They shut the door and then continued speaking. "Give me a moment please."

Soon after, the androgynous Scorpion opened up the door, now fully dressed. They stepped back inside, allowing the Shosuro passage.

"We must keep our sinister reputation intact, neh?" Sara asked lightly as she stepped into the room, glancing around.

"Have you had rice today Bayushi-san?"

"Should we with our alliance with the most honorable Lion?" Setsuna asked.

Their room was tidily packed away. In fact, it was almost as if the person had just moved in and hadn't taken their stuff out yet. Even still, Setsuna did not struggle to find the fabled comb.

"You are fortunate that I did not forget my comb in haste as well. As for your question, I have. And you?"

"I had some rations." Sara gratefully accepted the comb, and took a closer look at it.

"Quite nice, and thank you for your kindness. As for our reputation... the Lion need our edge, otherwise this alliance would have been in the mud far earlier. In my humble opinion.2

The comb is utilitarian rather than ornate, androgynous just like its owner.

"Is our alliance in the mud? I must admit, the political nuance has gone beneath my notice."

"Oh no, going strong, but that takes effort. Like a proper hairstyle." She tried the comb through her hair. It'll do.

"Hope you weren't hurt in the commotion back at winter court Bayushi-san."

Setsuna shrugged. "Commotion is one way to describe what happened there"

"Truth be told, Shosuro-sama, I have been here longer than you have," Setsuna said, "I just wanted to see how long I could keep up the charade."

They shrugged.

"Could it have continued for longer?"

Sara's lips formed a small O.

"Oh, my, what a ruse Bayushi-san. From one actress to another, congratulations." She smiled. "Any particular reason for this charade?"

"No. I never meant to. It was how I chose my words and then the story began." The Bayushi crossed their arms. "I am certainly no actress. Take that as you will."

"Mhm, yet you seemed to be a natural when it comes to misdirection Bayushi-san." She looked around the room, very obviously taking stock of what is in there.

"Any advice you would like to share about the city that I should be aware of?"

"Oh my belongings certainly helped. Perhaps I am a set designer for one of your plays." Setsuna glanced at their belongings too. "I find keeping it all packed expediates travel and hides much about me. Or perhaps it tells much about me."

The Bayushi then turned to Sara. "I have no advice to give. It is a town like any other thus far to me. Though I wonder if you have been among the Lion much."

Sara let out a low laugh. "Oh, Bayushi-san, you are so mysterious." she stepped closer to Setsuna, perhaps trying to get a whiff of perfume. "Do you not trust us so?"

She glanced out the window. "Not much, mostly Scorpion lands so far."

There was a faint smell of perfume, more to disguise any unwanted odor than for others to partake in. "I figure we Scorpion are not to trust anyone, including our most gracious hosts. Honest as they are, their motives may always change. At least we will know if they do."
