"As it should be," he said dryly.

"I don't indulge in flights of fancy when it comes to personal freedoms, I do what is asked of me. I take joy in my work and my family but I know that first must comes service before all things, as a Lion I am sure you know that."

"The Lion are fond of a certain type of service, yes." She replied with a nod.

"We all serve in the best way we can cousin... or we all attempt to do so. But 'flights of fancy' are not completely without merit. Being human is part of the experience of this realm. The world is a better place for this painting you've given me... as it is for the enjoyment you feel with your family."

She paused, "Sometimes the quiet voice within that tells you where you need to go doesn't agree with the voice of a superior. Finding ways to occupy the center can be hard... For someone like me in particular."

"Well you have always been a free spirit, an admirable trait, but I find doing what I am told has worked well. I serve, we all serve, I just choose to do so with the least amount of emotional interference."

"You of all people should know that does not mean I devalue human intuition and experience but I temper it with my adherence to Bushido, as well should," he said.

"But in the end, we all do what we think is best."

She nodded, "You have grown into a well-disciplined and decent man. And I'm sure our grandmother will be all the more happy now that she has another story to tell of your bravery."

She chuckled, "I hope they think so... But something something I'm my only judge... something."

She chuckled, "I'm rather simple in all truth... just perplexing to the narrow-minded."

He rose and said, "All the same, things will get worse before they improve. Steel yourself."

He responded, "Despite what you believe I am not wound tight, I am actually quite relaxed."

She shook her head, "I don't think you wound up tight. I can sense the subtle changes in your tightness... You're much improved from the last time we met."

She smiled, "I'm just saying don't be too loosey goosey... Stay vigilant."

"Indeed," he said dryly.

"Stay vigilant, honored cousin, and I shall give prayers we all get home in relative wholeness to kiss our children and loved ones."

He departed.
