Day 11 15th day of the Month of the Hare, 759 Nikesake is under siege. The constant rain has ceased, allowing the sun to come out and shine upon the muddy and, in places, flooded plains, but for the town's residents, there is little to celebrate. Rumors of a strike team being defeated and the deaths of some of the Empire's greatest heroes weigh heavy on everyone's hearts, and the enemy makes the wound deeper by spiking the heads of Asako Kashiwagi, Matsu Mogami, and the monk Kayou a short distance from the city gates, as if daring their friends and loved ones to come retrieve them. Worse yet, the lone survivor, Matsu Tani, seems to have been strung up atop the warbanner of the enemy general, making her into a cruel example of what happens to those who defy the Steel Chrysanthemum. That she still lives is something of a miracle in itself... Day gradually segues into an uncomfortable night as the townsfolk and refugees nervously wait for an assault that does not come. There is no sign of the governor, who has barricaded herself within the castle and refused all visitors. (Characters with the Lord Moon's Curse disadvantage must make the appropriate Willpower Roll each day or lose control of your character to the GMs for the Evening and Night time slots.)
