[D10 EE] Well That was an Eventful Afternoon (open)

With the chaos at the gates most dealt with and holding Chen decided to go and work on his sword skills. He entered the dojo and went through the proper ceremonies as he bowed and placed his daisho on a stand.

He grabbed a practice sword and began going through the motions of a kata. Nothing fancy just something to get his muscles moving.

Sukima decided to head to the same location largely by chances. With the shrines no longer an option it seemed like the most reasonable place to meditate. She bowed in greeting, but was mostly silent for the next thirty minutes as she sat in a quiet corner, focusing inward.

Somehow, despite the rarity of her practice, she managed to find some level of inner peace.

Chen noticed the Yogo enter the dojo but saw her sit down to meditate and decided he would continue to work while she centered herself.

After sometime he saw she seemed to be done and he set down his practice weapon and approached her "Yogo-sama, I am glad to see you made it through the events this afternoon unharmed."

"Yes..." She rose from her sitting position, opening her eyes. "Though nothing is certain with the army at our gates. Tomorrow may present a different result." She was dressed more simply than she might for court, and went over to the practice weapons, picking up a bokken.

She smiled a little to him. "I'm glad to see that you are well, too."

the smile took him off guard he was not used to being worried about even having lip service paid to it "uh..thank you Yogo-sama I am honored to be in your thoughts at all. If it would please you I would request to be in the room adjacent to yours. I do not sleep at night and would be your eyes and ears while you slept."

She studied him for a moment, then turned toward him with a small grin. Her face took on a playful tone overall, as if the battles just earlier hadn't happened. Or perhaps she was trying to get her mind off them.

Either way, she leveled her bokken in a ready stance. "Sure. If you can beat me."

He returned her grin "I must beat you in order to protect you? An interesting proposition Yogo-sama." He looked deep in thought for a moment before nodding "Very well."

He grabbed his bokken and moved opposit her "how much have you been taught about sword play?"

"Can't well protect me if I can defeat you at my level," she chuckled. "I'm not a complete beginner, but not too far from it."

A third Scorpion entered the dojo. Kitamaru did not drag his feet, but it appeared he lacked a certain mirth. Seeing Chen and Sukima, the Shosuro stood straighter and disregarded trepidation.

A bow to the dojo, to those there and Kitamaru left his daisho at the entrance properly, then silently selected a bokken as well. No training began, the figure preferred to wait and see what would become of the match first.

Chen chuckled a bit, there was a nod to the Shosuro as he entered. "fair enough Yogo-sama, let us begin then." With that he dropped into a stance ready for Sukima's move.

Chen saw her solid defensive form but he was not deterred he lashed out quick like a stinger. His Bokken failed to penetrate her defenses.

Sukima lifted her practice sword in defense, her stance solid and undeterred. She remained still for the moment, waiting for the opportunity to move and strike.

The prudent move was to create distance force her to break her guard to engage him, but its been said that fortune favors the bold and Chen embodied that in this moment his eyes narrowed and he moved even faster than before his Bakken striking out in a feint manner deceiving her guard and slipping past it to tap her shoulder.

"Holy f-" She cut off the very unladylike phrase that attempted to leave her mouth as he was suddenly past her defenses and she felt the sword at her shoulder. She chuckled and lowered hers. "I think I've seen enough. I agree to your proposal."

Then she looked over to the newcomer. "Good evening, Shosuro-san."

Chen withdrew the practice blade and bowed to Sukima "You honor me Yogo-sama." He gave her a small grin "Would you believe me if I told you my blade skills are the least of my useful tools?"

He turned to the new comer as well "What did you think Shosuro-san?"

"Yogo-sama shows promise", he answered first. He rose slowly again. "And Bayushi-san has insight into the Fortune's wisdom."

Head cocked slightly.

"Might he try this luck against this one?"

Chen shrugged a little "If that is acceptable to Yogo-sama. Though I warn you Shosuro-san, when I said my blade skills were the least of my talents it was not in jest. But I will do my best to challenge one trained by the Bayushi."

Assuming Sukima had no objection, Kitamaru took position across from Chen, then entered his stance. He seemed flexible to act. Though perhaps too cocky for orokos.
