Having received a message from Osamu regarding the spiritual research they'd discussed, Tameaki arrives at the Twin Shrines - an appropriate location, he thought - to discuss the matter.

Not that there was much question of spiritual influence on mortals after today, of course...

It wasn't Osamu first choice of meeting areas, but given the exact nature of what the were discussing it did serve us purpose.

Approaching the Scorpion, Osamu offered the man a police bow. "Soshi-sama, thank you for coming to meet me here."

"Thank you for coming," Tameaki replies with a bow. "Well, we seem to have at least partial answers to the questions raised last night, it seems..."

"Yes " He replied with a small frown. "There is a spiritual influence affecting the Samurai here. Though from what I can tell its nothing malevolent all on its on. It's more like a large scale haunting. Peoples ancestors are coming to whisper in their ear and influence their opinions."

"Thst the spirits of those ancestors reside in Toshigoku is likely, though its hard to prove. It would be harder still to convince most samurai that such is the case. So it leaves in question what exactly we can do."

"I've witnessed this indirectly," confirms Tameaki, "via my spiritual advisor, Yogo Aya-san - we spoke briefly of her last night. She has, it seems, a touch of Lion ancestry, and has been affected by the same...curse, I suppose we could call it. If these are properly manifest or semi-manifest spirits, she tells me, wards or banishing rituals would suffice, but to cover such a large area and so many people..."

"Well, add to it that if some of these people trust the words of their ancestors they won't exactly look kindly upon us moving to prevent their comunicating with them. Some might even say it borderrs on blasphemy, so it's a hard thing to even argue that we need." He sighed sofly and shook his head, making note to not get near the twice cursed Yogo if he could avoid it. "Of course if some sought aid to avoid this kind of influence that's a completely different thing altogether."

"Given that the influence seems to be tied to the Realm of Slaughter, as fitting for a scheme hatched by the Steel Chrysanthemum...well, everyone has ancestors they wouldn't wish to claim, I'm sure," Tameaki says.

"Likely so, but would people take our word on it that these ancestors are from the realm of slaughter? I am quite sure most would deny any such claims." Osamu replied, he would at the very least. "So I think the first step would be able to prove what we are saying as a fact and not just speculation."

"I gather that it's generally considered fact," replies Tameaki. "Multiple reports have come in of people urged by these spirits to violence, to support of the usurper, or both. There have been no reports of spirits that have not shown all the qualities I would expect from Toshigoku."

"And yet I hear people are obeying them nonetheless." Odamu replied. "You make a fine point though, if people are willing to accept what these are it's going to be much easier to take steps."

Tameaki shrugs.

"Some do not have the will to stand against such an assault," he conjectures. "Against the arguments of a mortal, one might simply stand their ground and allow the discussion to come to a natural conclusion, but against a voice in one's own head that does not tire and will not leave..."

He shakes his head. Such constant attacks would wear away one's sanity, let alone one's resolve.

"Hopefully the Kitsu in the city are preparing a response, or at least the few who can currently manage it. The Spirit Realms and their inhabitants are their specialties, so perhaps they might have a way to enact a wide-scale cleansing. Otherwise, it will take some days to set up enough wards to restore the peace, especially if the only Yogo - unquestionably masters of protective magic - in the city is affected as well."

"It seems your clanamte is having no end to difficulties lately, Soshi-sama." Osamu repleid with a shake of his head. "As for the Kitsu, I would hope so, they are as you said the Masters of this particular area of study. Though I would have to say I haven't seen a great many of them around either." Most of the Lion he had seen seemed to be Matsu not that he thought about it.

"I suppose the question is now, do we expect any of the Samurai affected by these spirits to join the rank of the enemy in the coming fight?"

Tameaki pauses - it's obvious that he knows what the answer to the posed question is, but doesn't want to say it. Finally, though, he does:

"Yes. Those without the strength of will to oppose the voices they hear may turn against the defenders of the city when the attack finally comes. We will need to be on our guard, and prepared to put down any who seem afflicted - it's a kinder fate than effective spiritual possession, I would imagine."

Osamu nodded, seeming to have expected that answer. "I thought that might be the case." He offered after a moment, though it was something that would probably cause then no small degree of headaches as well.

"Do you think the Governess will sanction that sort of action?" He hoped she would, having to work around that sort of road block would be difficult to say the least.

"She'll have little choice, if she wants the city to hold," opines the magistrate. "Whatever face an enemy wears, he is still an enemy."

"Quite right." Osamu agreed with a nod. That at least was a sentiment his own grandfather could agree with.

"The Lion do seem like the sort to be practical about this sort of thing as well. So I don't think it will truly be much of a problem."

"That will be the plan, then," confirms Tameaki. "I've uncovered no other information relevant to these spiritual problems, so I suppose all we can do now is set out and do our best against further enemy attacks. I imagine this wave of chaos will be closely followed by the main force."

"That seems likely." Osamu agreed with a nod. "Spread havoc in our ranks then when we are at our worst attack. It will certainly put the advantage in the hands of our enemy, or so I'd think."

"Let's go and see that we don't have to worry about that," Tameaki replies. "If there's nothing else...?"
