Before Amaterasu could lighten up the darkness engulfing Nikesake, Horonigai makes her way toward the Twin Shrines. She takes calm steps up to the meet the shrine to the Fortune of Redemption while her umbrella deflects the tears of the Water Dragon above them. Once she arrives, Horonigai kneels down in seiza, and starts praying to the Fortune. She claps once, seeking redemption for herself: to have failed in stopping the Steel Chrysanthemum in time. Twice. For her Family: due all failures for so many years in protecting the fallen Emperor. Trice. For the returned spirits, that sought to punish their descendants. The last clap, she asks redemption for the actions of the Lion earlier today: murdering a peaceful Kakita Ambassador and shaming the Doji with the same blindness the Spirits brought. "Would the reign under a Matsu Empress be as violent as this?" She asks the Fortune in a low voice. |
